Our Services

Sydney Psychometrics provides comprehensive assessments for the areas below.

Assessments

Individual assessments will be tailored to the child, however they will typically include a detailed clinical interview with the parent/s, completion of validated questionnaire measures by teachers and family, child observations, standardised psychometric testing, and feedback with recommendations. Some examples of our assessments are described below.

Comprehensive ADHD and Learning Assessment

This comprehensive assessment (for children aged 6+) is suitable for children experiencing difficulties with their attention and learning at school. Teachers may have raised concerns, or you may have noticed they struggle to complete routine tasks or homework at home. It will assess ADHD, cognitive ability (IQ), and learning. A comprehensive approach is undertaken as children with attentional difficulties often have difficulties in school.

Cognitive Assessment

A cognitive assessment can help identify your child’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, as well as assessing for giftedness, or intellectual disability. At times, a school may request a cognitive assessment for school placement.

Prior to School Cognitive Assessments

Completing a cognitive assessment prior to commencing Kindergarten can help identify a child's strengths and weaknesses, as well as evaluate their overall learning potential. At times, a paediatrician or prospective school may request a cognitive assessment prior to school commencing. When children may need additional support (e.g., autistic children, children with Global Developmental Delay), this assessment can help to inform the best supports.

Learning Assessments

This assessment will assess cognitive ability and academic achievement skills in the critical areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. This type of assessment is suitable for assessing for specific learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia.

Please note that learning differences may only be diagnosed following at least a 6 month period of targeted evidence based intervention for the area of difficulty.

  1. Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V)
